so what's it like in your part of the country? white? green? bleak? cheery? cuz mine's just plain boring. kinda wet. and not all that cold. we haven't even had any snow.
oh, mid-ohio. the bane of my existence.
nevertheless, i guess i am pretty excited about christmas. i'm really looking forward to the christmas eve service at my church.
there is something so awe-inspiring about the enormous silence of the congregation on that particular night. such a great mass of people, all waiting for the same thing. waiting for that day when a tiny, seemingly insignificant child was born of an inexperienced teenager in palestine. and so we come together on that night with a level of reverance we don't normally frequent in our hearts. we sing songs known by heart, and we smile because of the happy times and memories they bring to our minds. we talk to those we don't normally take the time to pause for, and we hum walking down the street, shopping for loved ones.
there are so many things that make this month the best of the twelve.
because every year, christmas gives me hope that mankind might just have a chance. that we aren't just capable of destroying everything we see on a selfish whim. that we might be able to not just look out for ourselves, but for others as well.
we stupid humans might just get it through our thick skulls that there might be more to life than just me, me, me.
we might just make it.
merry christmas, you guys.
